GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Division of Criminal Investigation, within the Wyoming Attorney General's Office, is seeking qualified applicants for the 10-Print Fingerprint Examiner position. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical public safety efforts through detailed forensic analysis.
As a 10-Print Fingerprint Examiner, you will perform specialized work in the examination, identification, and comparison of fingerprints. This position plays a key role in supporting investigations by ensuring accurate and reliable fingerprint analysis. Responsibilities include collecting, classifying, examining, and comparing fingerprint records using advanced systems such as ABIS.
This position does not include supervisory or budgetary responsibilities, allowing you to focus on developing your technical expertise in forensic identification while contributing to the integrity and effectiveness of criminal investigations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Examine, classify, and identify fingerprints utilizing accepted methods and practices.
- Using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to process arrest and applicant fingerprint cards received from Wyoming law enforcement agencies and other contributors.
- Capture and collect fingerprints and palm prints through various practices accepted by the fingerprint science community.
- Enter, register, and maintain a fingerprint image database and manual fingerprint files.
- May be required to testify in court as an expert.
- Plan, prepare, and conduct fingerprint training for a variety of audiences.
- Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of the principles of fingerprint identification.
- Knowledge of Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) concepts and processing methods.
- Knowledge of ACE-V methodology.
- Knowledge of the structure of criminal justice systems at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Knowledge of the Privacy Act requirements, security, and other related rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice system.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in the operation of personal computers and supporting equipment.
- Skill in the use of extensive user manuals.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in work organization and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to complete tasks promptly with minimum supervision.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
No prior experience is required.
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Fingerprinting)

None
- Necessary Special Requirements
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- Ability to travel statewide.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Successful applicants are required to have a valid driver's license and pass an extensive background investigation.
